Ingredients:

  • 1 lb sirloin steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 cups day-old cooked jasmine rice, chilled
  • 1 cup frozen peas and carrots, thawed
  • 1/2 cup white onion, finely diced
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, divided

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, and pepper. Toss in the sliced beef and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Ensure the chilled rice is broken up by hand to remove any large clumps.
  3. Preheat the Blackstone griddle to medium-high heat (approx. 375°F/190°C) and apply a thin layer of oil.
  4. On one side of the griddle, sear the beef quickly until it develops a mahogany-colored crust (about 2-3 minutes), then move it to the cool zone or a plate.
  5. In the center of the griddle, melt 1 tbsp of butter and sauté the onions, carrots, and peas until the onions are softened.
