Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken drumsticks
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp cracked black pepper
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • ⅓ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp cold water

Instructions:

  1. Pat the chicken drumsticks completely dry with paper towels and season evenly with salt and black pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the orange juice, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes until smooth.
  3. Place the seasoned drumsticks in the slow cooker and pour the honey-orange mixture over the top. Cover and cook on High for 3 hours or Low for 6 hours, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  4. Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside. Pour the remaining cooking liquid into a saucepan over medium heat.
  5. Whisk cornstarch and water together to create a slurry, stir it into the simmering sauce, and whisk for 2-3 minutes until thickened into a glossy syrup.
  6. Pour the thickened glaze back over the chicken. For a crispier finish, place under a broiler for 3-5 minutes until the sauce bubbles and caramelizes.
