Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken drumsticks
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp cracked black pepper
- ½ cup fresh orange juice
- ⅓ cup honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp cold water
Instructions:
- Pat the chicken drumsticks completely dry with paper towels and season evenly with salt and black pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the orange juice, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes until smooth.
- Place the seasoned drumsticks in the slow cooker and pour the honey-orange mixture over the top. Cover and cook on High for 3 hours or Low for 6 hours, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside. Pour the remaining cooking liquid into a saucepan over medium heat.
- Whisk cornstarch and water together to create a slurry, stir it into the simmering sauce, and whisk for 2-3 minutes until thickened into a glossy syrup.
- Pour the thickened glaze back over the chicken. For a crispier finish, place under a broiler for 3-5 minutes until the sauce bubbles and caramelizes.
