Ingredients:
- 1 lb Lean Ground Beef (90% lean)
- 0.5 tsp Coarse Sea Salt
- 0.25 tsp Cracked Black Pepper
- 0.5 Yellow Onion, finely diced (approx. 100g)
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tsp Light Brown Sugar
- 0.5 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
Instructions:
- Set a 12-inch heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat. Wait until the surface is hot enough that a drop of water evaporates instantly.
- Place the ground beef in the center of the pan in one large disc. Do not break it up. Sear undisturbed for 3–4 minutes until a dark, mahogany-colored crust forms on the bottom.
- Flip the beef chunks and use a wooden spoon to break the meat into smaller crumbles. Push the meat to the edges of the pan.
- Add the diced onions to the center of the pan. Cook for 2 minutes until translucent, then add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, stirring into the meat.
- Pour the soy sauce and brown sugar over the mixture. Stir constantly for 60 seconds as the liquid reduces and coats the beef in a glossy glaze. Remove from heat immediately.
