Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup (30g) black cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
  • 1/2 cup (90g) orange and purple M&Ms or Halloween-themed chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp (10g) colorful Halloween sprinkles
  • 12-16 candy eyeballs

Instructions:

  1. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened butter and brown sugar together until smooth and velvety.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. Sift the flour, black cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt into the wet ingredients. Mix on low speed just until the white streaks of flour disappear.
  5. Fold in the Halloween candies and sprinkles using a spatula.
  6. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9-11 minutes until the edges are set but the centers remain slightly soft.
  8. Press candy eyeballs into the tops of the cookies immediately after removing from the oven while they are still hot.
